Best Selling Cars in Australia in 2020

The results are released for the highest 10 selling cars in June 2020, revealing the long-lasting Aussie ute remains the nation’s hottest vehicle to shop for.
The Toyota Hilux was the top-selling vehicle for the month, with a complete of 6,537 sales in June, consistent with the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI).


It continues to be a troublesome year across the Australian market with car sales down for the fourth consecutive month compared to 2019, however, June’s result was the strongest since the start of Covid-19 in March.
FCAI Chief Executive Tony Weber attributed the slight uptick to the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, seasonality, the extension of the Federal Government’s instant asset write-off scheme, and brand and dealer pro-activity.

Total sales for the month – including passenger cars, SUVs, and lightweight and heavy commercial vehicles – were down 6.4% from June 2019, to 110,234 sales.

Despite the year-on-year decline, these figures are an improvement compared to the sharp drop by May sales for 2020, which was the most important since the statistics began being recorded in 1991.

Toyota HiLux:

Toyota RAV4:

Features of the Toyota RAV4 include Optional petrol-electric hybrid technology for fuel-efficiency. Multi-terrain options for mud and sand, rock and dirt, snow, or normal driving. Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa connectivity also are available.

Mazda CX-5:

Features of the Mazda CX-5 include petroleum or diesel, control radar, rear parking sensors Smart City Break Support (SCBS).

 Toyota Prado:

Features on the Toyota Prado include: reversing camera, heated and ventilated front-row seats, and front park assist.

Hyundai i30:

Features of the Hyundai i30 include Hyundai SmartSense to assist maintain a secure distance from other vehicles, Bluetooth, reverse camera, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.

Hyundai Tucson:

Features of the Hyundai Tucson include a 5 Star ANCAP safety rating with 6 airbags, rear park assist system with a rearview camera, and automatic, dusk-sensing headlights.

Kia Cerato:

Features of the Kia Cerato include wireless phone charging, smart key with push-button start, emergency braking, blind-spot detection, and lane-keeping assist.
